As the name implies, Twitter chats are special form of chats that take place on Twitter. What make Twitter chats so special is that you must adhere to Twitter's 140-characters rule. On top of that, Twitter chats are designated with special hashtags in order to distinguish them for traditional tweets.
Well, plenty of Twitter chats on various topics are scheduled on weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis.
1. Diversify Your Chats For Maximum Exposure
You may feel tempted to limit yourself to Twitter chats related to your field or industry. I strongly recommend that you diversify your choice of chats for more visibility. (Inno. stands for innovation)
2. Prepare For The Chat Ahead
Some chats have preset topics that are announced prior to the chat. It's a good idea to use a Twitter client application that handles Twitter chats. Make sure to have it opened with the chat hashtag entered before the chat begins.
3. Target The Right People to Interact With
Popular chats tend to be very crowded! Unlike ordinary chats, Twitter chats are archived and can be easily retrieved using their hashtags.
4. Shine Like a Pro
When it comes to Twitter chats, quality is far more important than quantity. Make valuable contributions to the chat that others would want to retweet. Also, give very thoughtful replies to your target chat partners.
Whenever possible, you may offer links to relevant content but don't overdo it as people would prefer chatting than reading.
5. follow up
It's a good idea to follow the chat organizers on Twitter and send them a thank-you message after the chat. Once you learn the ropes, you may start your own Twitter chat and all the friends you made in previous chats will be happy to jump in.
